New Garmin Edge 200

I have been using a Forerunner 305 as my cycling computer this year (mostly because I hate wired computers and I'm running a lot this year). Works great, and is even cheaper.

big drawback seems to be thats its not ant+ compatible, which limits the add-ons you can use with it. for a straight gps based computer, this will be a nice, affordable solution though.

I lkie it. I've been using a simple, old Cateye that has been acting up, and have been thinking of going to a GPS unit. Not interested in paying a lot or getting high end features - just want an accurate, reliable odometer/speedometer with decent battery life and reasonable cost. This looks like exactly what I've been waiting for....

I see the new 200 as a super-odometer. For the ones who only need to record their mileage, average speed that's the perfect unit. The bonus is that you can also record and upload your rides on Garmin Connect. At MSRP of $150 it won't be long before you can buy this online for what... $120? $110? Which is cool.

No cadence or heart rate...for me, the 2 most important features in a cyclo-computer-GPS.

This looks like a perfect computer for guys like me.
Weekend warrior/Master racer, who doesn't train specifically enough to care much about my cadence or heart rate.
I've been pondering getting a 500, as I'd like to know distance, speed, etc and don't like having wires or sensors on my bike, but didn't want to spend $250.

Good chance I'll grab one of these 200's over the winter. Thanks for the heads up.

I've had my Edge 205 for years. If it ever fails you, email Garmin for tech help. Also, don't push too hard on the release tab. It's plastic and unforgiving. A replacement costs about $15.
