OT: Albert King and SRV on Austin City Limits

I happened to check out Austin City Limits and found out that tonight's program was an Albert King and SRV special. I bought their cd years ago, but this is first time I have seen the 90 minute program. Killer stuff.

that was one of the best episodes ever.

speaking of srv, i had chance to see the concert prior to his last performance (in tandem with jeff beck). couldn't make it due to other obligations.

1 day later, oh man.....

My 14 yo budding guitarist just discovered SRV from a photo at the music shop. When he found out that I had a few of his cd's, all of a sudden I'm somewhat cool again.

Awesome. I remember seeing the show with some friends when it first came out. Aways loved AK, truly one the blues greats. Became a SRV fan the first time I heard him play, on Bowie's "Let's Dance" album. Yes on vinyl, and yes I'm old.

Yup. As SRV would say, he tried to see how many different genres of blues/rock he could make Albert's licks fit in and Albert's licks always worked (easy to say if you were a monster player like SRV ).

There have been a lot of great ACL shows. Unfortunately, I can no longer get PBS since the big govt. mandated digital broadcast went into effect. Spent almost $200 on a new antenna, but the PBS stations are too weak or too far away to pick up.

Is ACL available on DVD? There are a bunch of old shows I'd like to see again, many from some of the more obscure artists.

Yes, they were selling the SRV/Albert King episode last night.
Amazon has it as well.
