What to do when Denver is 100 degress

Find your way to Idaho Springs and climb Mt. Evans. A few pictures of the ride. Stay cool.

The photos of the switchbacks are just delicious! Looks like lots of fun. Was it cooler up there?

My computer said 62, but it runs high and would guess it was really 55. Denver was 102 today.

Now that's a mountain top finish that should be in the Tour.

I was going to try that ride a couple summers ago when we were vacationing in CO, but I thought I might die. Independence Pass at 11.5k was plenty high for my lungs.

Yes, good choice!! I love Echo Lake! Probably one of my top 10 scenic places in CO.

Is there enough room for cars and cyclists on the Mt. Evans road? Do they charge you to ride on the summit road?

I wound up cleaning the basement and then reading at Starbucks. I thought about riding up Loveland Pass from Keystone, but the garage is 113F and didn't want to spend more than 20 seconds in that oven.

Good for you for getting out.

Peace and see you somewhere (REI) in the City.

Eric

Spectacular shots,,, son just came back from CO in June, as you headed for the high hills, he did as well sking, biking etc. although Denver wasnt experiencing a heat wave.

Thats what great about Denver, gets to hot for you, head for the HILLS.

In Va and NC folks can do the same, head for the Blue Ridge Parkway

Love the shoots of the goats...

Thanks for posting
