RIP Alex Chilton

Really used to love his music with Big Star. Then the Replacements had a cool song about him too. He was only 59.

Another great one dies in semi-obscurity. I am amazed his passing got so much coverage: That's a small tribute, a day late. Truly a loss at his age. He inspired so many. Here's to Alex.

I heard an interview with him from about 2000 replayed on the radio today. He sounded appropriately funny and spaced out. Relishing being out on the oldies circuit and getting to play with Question Mark from Question Mark and the Mysterians. Or is that ? and the Mysterians?

I consider myself something of a fan of that era of music, but I don't know his stuff at all, despite having read about him for years as a seminal influence to so many fine artists. Sounded like a cool guy though.
