EU maps to load to my Garmin 830?

I have suddenly been presented with an opportunity to possibly go to Europe, specifically to Italy. I see different maps available online to load to my Garmin 830, which already has US maps.

Garmin seems to have one here: https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/155338

But I've also seen comments online that the device doesn't have enough space to load both US and EU maps. Has anyone else had to deal with this? I'd be really interested to hear how you were able to either solve this, or else be able to load both US and EU on there.

Thanks!

BBD

nope

Even Garmin now uses Open Street Maps. They're free but can be a bit tricky to download.

Or you could pay Garmin.

For $20, I'd get the Garmin map. I used OSM for years but the old site is not supported anymore.

There are instructions on the Garmin's Support section of their website to switch from their NA to Europe map, and back again. By getting the Euro map from Garmin, it will be easy to get help from them if you need it.

I like OSM, but in this case going with the Garmin Euro map is lower risk. Much lower actually.

Can you just copy the NA maps somewhere else on the garmin? The problem with the garmin map is that it's all of Europe, so it's big.

The Garmin 830 has 16gb of space on it. The North American map is just under 6gb and the Europe map is 8.3gb. I have them both on my 820. If you don't want all of Europe you can create your own custom map easily. Just follow the instructions here:
