OT: beard trimmer?

Sorry to be OT but I have a beard for the first time. I have a crappy trimmer with AA batteries that sucks. I went to amazon to get something better and was overwhelmed by choice. I want the 105/aluminum frame version of a beard trimmer with the ear/nose/etc hair attachments.

I just have done nothing for a month and it's getting furry. I am not going to go crazy with a Dali stache, just need a little trim. I might not even keep the beard.

Yes, there are a lot of them out there. Keep it simple and get a rechargeable.

Wahl makes a great one - $50-70 IIRC. Rechargeable. Love mine

I used Norelco's for years when I had a Commander Riker style beard. Once I changed to a most interesting man in the world style I needed a trimmer that would cut in the 15mm-20mm range which a lot don't. The Panasonic ER-GB80 that I got at Best Buy does .5mm stubble up to 20mm, has a slide up mini trimmer on it. $60 dollars, worth it to me.

I have a Remington PG6025, had it for a number of years (6+) use it weekly with no problems. It is rechargeable, fair amount of attachments and you can't beat the sub $20 price. It is the 105/aluminum frame of beard trimmers.

I'm ready for a new one myself. The Wirecutter always has a good rundown of the latest/best.

I have always used Panasonic. Believe it or not, the warranty is great. Every time I have a problem with mine, they just send me a whole new setup. Current generation model and everything.

Just bought a Remington trimmer for $25 at one of the big box stores, similar to one offered on Amazon.

Top rated, just below the 3X as expensive Wahl.

Corded provides a lot more power and hasn't been an issue...and I'm using it for hair cutting versus beard trimmer.

I got tired of paying $20 to tell someone #5 on the sides and #6 on top. Figured I could do that myself. So far nobody has laughed out loud.

ive had an oldspice branded braun for three years now. nice slider attachments, i've used it for beard grooming as well as giving myself some well-styled tapered haircuts (not just a buzz). just make sure it's fully charged before you use it

I use the Philips body groomer. Rechargeable, can do my beard in winter and my legs in the summer.

+1 for the Phillips. You can even "man scape" if you're careful!

I grow a beard out every winter and I have a Wahl Pet Groomer I got decades ago. Link. Just keep the blades oiled and there isn't much else to worry about. I prefer the corded option because I can't be bothered to keep something charged I only use once in awhile, and I typically stand in front of a mirror where there is a plug...I feel like I replied to a post about this very question a few years back. There may be a thread worth searching for!

Thanks. I ended up ordering a Wahl (never heard of it before) 9864SS. Amazon has a 20% coupon so it was $55 for what seems like a really good one with all of the attachments.
Made in USA with a 5 year warranty and sounds like good customer service.
I have been using my $8 trimmer with a broken guide for years so figured what the hell. And I am only getting hairier with age! Except for on my head. I also just sold some stuff in the classifieds...

I had also never heard of the Wirecutter before so that was useful.

Yes this costs about 3x what a plastic remington would have cost. Hopefully worth it.
