Help in Bend, OR or therabouts

We take an annual trip to Bend, Or......Black Butte specifically, and normally I just take the paddle board out on Suttle, or run, or hike to keep up with fitness.

But this year I'm training for Leadville and I want to keep my 'cycling' fitness as much as I can.

Does anyone know of a good place to rent bikes.....or does someone want to rent me one of their bikes for the week? Nothing trick.....just something I can ride.

I know this is way tall order but thought I'd give it shot. Never know unless ya ask right?

Thanks in advance.

(FWIW- I can fit on 57-60 road or L/XL MTB)

Isn’t clean 39t up that way and roughly that size?

He’s bound to have 2 or 3 bikes he’s bought that he needs to hide while he “sells” 2 or 3...

Black Butte

Get you hands on an mtb or cross bike.
Riding is really good up in the Sisters/Black Butte area-
Trails right outside your door.

I'd start with Crow's Feet Commons in Bend and see if they can set you up with something nice. http://crowsfeetcommons.com/

Otherwise, I can recommend...

Hutch's in Bend (Specialized) https://hutchsbicycles.com/

Blazin Saddles in Sisters (BMC, Felt, Giant) http://blazinsaddleshub.com/?page_id=12180

I don't think the Black Butte Recreation Center will have anything that you'll be happy with.

I can't help you with a bike, I'm a short guy, but it looks like you got that covered. Here are some places to use it https://bendtrails.org/

Hey thanks!! This is great! I will definitely be on the lookout for some long (80-100 miles) routes with some good climbing.

Black Butte will be our home base for the week so the ability to ride FROM there would be great.

Thanks for sharing!

Anybody want to do Shermans March

http://www.dirtyfreehub.com/adventure/oregon-x/ ....... the week of July 16?

If we do it TWICE it comes out to 104 miles and 8000' climbing

I’ve never done it but the McKenzie Pass Scenic Bikeway is on my list and it’s right there. I really want to get there one day.

McKenzie pass isn't the one that goes up and over HooDoo is it? We typically go over to Suttle Lake and that pass gets tons of traffic, especially 18 wheelers. No way I'd ride on that.

IF that's the one you're talking about.

The one I’m thinking of is closed to motor traffic for part of the year. I’m not from around there so I might have the name wrong. Someone local can chime in.

I found it. https://traveloregon.com/things-to-d...cenic-bikeway/

That looks awesome. Definitely not the same pass I was thinking of. Unfortunately it looks like they only close it for short time in the Spring, and I'll be there in July.

I wonder how much traffic that route gets at other times of year??

AndySTI do you know ?

I would advise against riding when open to cars...or early morning only.
