have had both...crank bros win.

Why mo better!

1. float just as good, or better
2. can wear road shoes or MTB shoes 0r shimano sandals. with same pedals.
3. cleats don't wear out as fast.
4. easy in easy out love double sided road pedals, never fall over at stop sign in front of 50 of your friends!
5. no hot spots with quattro model

I dumped DA pedals to use Crank Bros. w/ Shimano M020 shoes. there may be a slight loss of efficiency pedaling but the comfort/walkability of the Crank Bros. makes them the big winners.

Crank

Ok, I've got Looks on my road bikes, and Crank Bros Candies on my commuter and effin' cyclocross bike. I like the big platform of the Looks, but I'm really impressed with the Candies. Very stable, easy in/out, and I can walk normally in a set of mellow Shimano shoes.

Question for those riding Crank Bros on the road: Are you using road shoes with a different cleat, or mtn. shoes with the recessed cleat? Is there really a difference?

i ride mountain shoes with the recessed cleat. ice skating through convenience stores and/or coffee shops lost its charm a long time ago for me.

cranks

Riding crank pedals on road, mtb, cyclocross.
The pedal works for all three better than anything else I have tried (look, speedplay X and frogs, spd, spd-r, time).

I am using the same shoes (sidi) for everything and I can see no performance loss to flat road shoes at all as long as the sole is stiff.

Entry and exit is unmatched, float is great, no accidental exits even with enormous yanking.
