Front Derailleur-44/34 Crank Opinions
Expecting my new Black Mountain Cross frame next Thursday. Moving components over from my current frame. 6800 everything. I travelled recently and the front derailleur cage was tweaked on the way out, took a lot of tinkering to get it in shape and reliable so I'm not against replacing it.
BMC has top routing and a pulley. I can stay with the 6800 front derailleur or get a CX 70 which is available top or bottom pull. Would like to hear your opinions and experience on the best setup. I know the CX 70 is 10 speed but figured it may still be a good choice with a 44 big ring. If I ever change the gearing it will be to go lower, 11-32 on the back for now and mid cage rear derailleur. |

Definitely top pull CX70, that's what I'm using on my BMC MonsterX with 44/34 and Campy 10. It was recommended by Mike at BMC.

Thanks that is what I planned but wanted a second opinion. Should have asked Mike as he was very nice to deal with.

CX-70 is great with 42-46 tooth rings as the outer cage is profiled to match those rings more closely. A great FD in my experience.

I like my (multiple) CX70s front derailleurs.
Work really well for both 10sp and 11sp setups M |
