I've got a Lemond (GL) Coors Light replica team bike with the saddle post stuck in it right now in the shop. They are having a tough time with that one

I think mine is an '89 and that paint is a bit more subdued in blue and white.

I love that paint, love the bike, love everything about it! I've always wanted one of those Coor's Light bikes in particular. Way cool!

while I applaud their willingness to "curate" (whatever that means) a collection, I'd much rather people out riding those bikes rather than sitting in a museum setting.

Dave, do you remember the story on the rear brake cable routing? Production 1991 CIIs had internal with top ports, while Moninger's bike and the team bike in the 1991 catalog have top tube loops for full length casing.

Tai, I think you are correct: CL rode San Marco saddles. The team bike in the 1991 catalog has a Regal mounted.

I rode Greg Oravetz's bike CL Serotta for a dozen or so miles because he wanted to ride my Litespeed. Nice solid feeling bike with a decent dent in the top tube. Decent guy too, great war stories from the Euro peloton.

The race bikes were always designed and built to be as pragmatic as possible so they never had internals. Keeping a bike with internals working as it should was much more work and the brake feel was never as good so the race bikes got standard routing. As I recall it moved to split guides the next season (or late this season...hmmm?) to make it lighter and more simple.

I haven't thought about this stuff in a very long time - fun to remember.
