Serotta's Matte Finish

Enquiring minds want to know. What is Serotta’s matte finish? How is it created. It almost appears to be a chemical etching or anodizing. ???

I think the "darker" appearance is just the way the light reflects
off the matte vs polish.

I would encourage potential Serotta Ti customers to check out
the matte and polish in person before ordering.
I've found their polish to be closer to the matte of other brands (Litespeed,
for one) while the Serotta matte is much rougher.

The polished on my old legend was a brushed finish, while the matte was, well matte. I really like the matte but once it's scratched or scuffed it's not going to look new again. The polished parts on the other hand are real easy to touch up.

What I've never really asked or seen, is a ti nitride coating like some of the watch manufacturers do. I guess it's too expensive to do on something as big as a frames, but I think it's ventura watches that say their coating on ti equates to a mohs hardness of 9, which is pretty darn tough to scratch up.
