Favorite glove?

I've been using the specialized 74 gloves for a little under a year and really like them. The only problem is they fall apart after three months. Any recommendations on leather gloves with a similar style that hold up? Ideally with a wrist strap.

I've had good luck with these from Galtani.

Not quite what you describe, but decent for the price.

I use harbinger gloves, this ones I really like are weight lifters gloves and I found hold up much better than any cycling gloves I've use, they have a wrist strap but most times I fold that part up. They make a variety of gloves, I believe for cycling and paddling too.

Camelbak Vent glove. Long finger gloves help protect fingertips when hitting the deck. Helped me at least twice, and I've scraped my fingertips when not using long finger gloves. These gloves have been good to me, durable, soft, thin.

Those are beautiful. I've found the same as alioup101 with the Spec 74's. No durability.

I have some Giro with an all leather palm. Lasted a few seasons, but I rotate them. The black dye did bleed on my hands and bar tape the first few rides, but then, I sweat profusely in hot weather.

Airius Classic

These aren't as good as the Specialized crochet style, but those aren't made anymore.

Less than $10 a pair, and they are not junk - I have a few pairs in rotation (so they can dry out between rides to minimize the stink) and they've lasted more than two years. Very light padding. Best of all (for me) they're made of synthetic leather.

At this price you really can't go wrong, and to tell you the truth, when I use them I can't tell the difference between them and gloves that cost way more.

Kinda depends on the season......but for my daily sweat til wet gloves, I use gel gloves from Walmart. Made by/for Bell Sports they seem as comfortable as any other for my 150 or so miles per week riding. They go in the washer and drier about every other week or so. Last about a year. See no need to pay more.

I imagine there are a couple companies over in Taiwan that make most of them anyway.

Giro Monaco....I use the long and short finger versions. Top quality construction with full leather palm and minimalist gel pads in the right places. Best glove for the $. Lou

I gave up on cycling gloves long ago. They all pretty much suck and cost too much. I just use Gil sailing gloves. Take your pick here: https://gillna.com/c-34-gloves.aspx

They are built for much more demanding use than cycling, and when they get all stanky with sweat and snot you can just throw them in the washing machine. Full fingered, open forefinger and thumb, or all open. Take yer pick. They all are burlier than cycling gloves, though if you get the cheapest ones, they are a close approximation. Some are quite warm too, if you need that.

If your Assos pals look askance at you, tell them they are yachting gloves.

One really hot days, I just use my white Defeet Duragloves, looking like a Japanese cabdriver.

I've been riding sans gloves for about 3 months. I know a bad idea if I hit the deck..

the ones I liked before were the pearl izumi thermal lite ones, super thin. Just good enough to save your skin from a fall.

Couldn't find them in my size when my last pair got a hole, just looked now and they are finally available again in my size.

I prefer relatively thin/simple gloves without velcro straps…

I generally horde Craft Elite and Bellwether Pursuit gloves when I find them for "cheap".

I'm about to try Chiba Gripmaster Kangaroos next…

I have various Castelli and Giro gloves in the bottom of the bin…all had velcro…all stretched out of shape rather quickly.

If you mean the leather dried into hard funky shapes, yeah that used to happen to me (when they eventually dried).

One of the benefits of synthetic leather is that that doesn't happen to them - they don't get hard when they dry. I've had good luck with Clarino.
