maybe you should try moustache bars for about 15 minutes. that will cure you of your desire to ride moustache bars.

Have not ridden one, but my first impression is that you need a significantly more upright position for that to be comfortable. I would think the way you would have to cant your wrists on that set-up would get tiring and/or painful in about a minute and a half.

But again, I am speaking from the unique perspective of never knowingly being in the same time zone as a set of those bars.

No kidding. My wife wanted moustache bars on her fixed gear. Then she rode 60 miles and wanted them gone.

It's hard to tell from the angle of that photograph but they look to me like they are On One Mary bars. http://www.planet-x-usa.com/product-p/hbooma.htm

I haven't ridden them but you should be able to Google them and find reviews. You could also search on www.mtbr.com.

EDIT: They are mounted upside down in the photo. From what I remember from mtbr.com posts either way is fine. You just need to find what's most comfortable for you.

+1 the upside-down mounting-- that's pretty goofy. The basic concept is pretty cool-- a forward bend in the crossbar section then a 40' or so bar angle places your hands in the same fore-aft position with more thumb-forward angle than a traditional mtb bar. Lots of brands make them now: On-One Mary (had a set but they were too narrow for me), Jones H and J Bar (different clamp diameters-- can't remember which is which), Surly Open Bar, Salsa, etc. I have a Surly (have had a Jones) on my winter bike and like it-- maybe its more comfortable not twisting the arm with heavy gloves, more clothes, etc. Tried it on the single speed, but prefer a more traditional riser bar for summer mtb... can't say why.

The Groovy Luv Handle looks neat... good reviews, too. Kind I like a variant on the bull-moose bar from Riv, in terms of the hand position.

But I do like road brake levers for more versatile hand positions. Just not sure how good that would be for off-roading...

I recall reading somewhere an interview with (Musseuw?..) about riding Paris-Roubaix well, and he was saying that you don't want to have your hands on the brake hoods, or it'll wreck the wrists... But we are talking ATBs with fatter tires, not road bikes.

(Also, Grant at Riv insists that you really have to get the moustache bar quite a bit higher than a regular drop bar to be comfortable. Haven't tried it myself, but curious. So, is the dislike there regardless of bar height?)
