More Mid-Compact Talk
It is all the rage right now, along with retro style shoes, aero road helmets, and hi viz everything! Consider me on board, after finding myself in the 39-27 far too often, I am ready to experiment with some smaller gears.
Here are my two cranksets on two different road bikes: 1)2010 Super Record 11s, stock rings 53/39, 135 bcd spider, on a steel Columbus Spirit road bike 2)Cannondale Hollowgram SL BB30 with FSA 11s rings 53/39, 130bcd spider, on a 2010 SuperSix Anyone have thoughts on the best options for converting either crankset to 52/36? Best I can tell, FSA does not make a Campy 11s 52/36 set of rings, and Campy makes them in either Athena level (silver or black) or Super Record level (that off grey/green color of standard rings). I am banking on having to switch to a 110bcd spider on either crankset to accommodate the 36 tooth inner ring. |

You definitely have to go to a smaller BCD than 130 for a ring smaller than 38t. May as well trade one of your current cranks or buy a different one.

This. 38 on a 130, and 39 on a 135. Small as you can go.

110
Get a 110 spider for your Hollowgram cranks, and a set of Praxis compact chainrings- they will work great with your Campy 11 speed.
