LOL @ Zwift. If you have enough power you can go all the way to the pointy end of the World Tour with shaky bike handling skills. Road is not MTB or Gravel!
There is a long list of those guys we could all start naming here. Lots who had many opportunities ruined crashing in bizarre situations that made no sense. Grand Tour victories snatched away crashing JRA on the flat, bizarre crashes off the outside of corners, crashing in TTs becoming the differentiator, etc.. Anything can happen to anyone but there have always been riders even at that level who seemed to have a proclivity for it.
Road spends so little time in corners just having huge power can hide huge deficits in other areas of your riding. About the only time it can even begin to matter is in really aggressive crit riding, but someone with massive power will still ride away even if they are tip-toeing through the corners.
