I've been waiting for bicyclerollingresistance.com to test these since they were released.

Single compound rubber. Puts them on the back foot against almost every other high end tire.
They're good tires, but it's easy to outgrow them after a year or two. |

I love Gravelking SS for mixed road and gravel.
But they are an absolute bitch to seat when mounting tubeless. Anyone have this experience? |

Thanks clearly missed that one or search failed miserably!

I did, but not the newest version. I got one setup easy but the second was a nightmare. They didn’t hold their shape very nicely. I loved how they felt once installed but they punctured quickly for me and didn’t last long before hitting the bin.

Broad strokes about the GK's.
I like the + models, a lot. Regular without sidewall protection, not so much. I have a pair of X1's that I need to throw on some wheels, but I bought them for the improved tread pattern, that I'm hopeful are an improvement over the SK squares. |

I had 4 or 5 of them in total and all were miserable to set up. And to pull em and remount was worse than initial mounting. Moved to 45mm Conti Terra Speed tires that mounted immediately without fuss, much less issue. I am tempted to try the GKSS tires again, once these Conti tires die out. The new standard will hopefully improve things for the GK series. |
