Seven Odonata/Elium questions …
I know these were (are) popular models and that quite a few members have owned them. A few quick questions.
1) What’s the difference between the two lines? 2) Tire clearance? 3) Ride quality? 4) Is there a geo chart anywhere? They seem to be hard to find. Thanks! Last edited by XXtwindad; 03-04-2024 at 05:21 PM. |

These are almost always customized to the original owner including the tubeset in order to deliver the stiffness and handling the buyer asked for so comparing them is quite difficult.
Generally speaking, the Odonata was the original carbon ti seven and has carbon seat tube and seat stays. If the transition is not pointy then it's from 2004 or older. The elium first came out around 2004 and added a carbon top tube along with ultra butted ti. It was supposed to be lighter than Odonata. Seven has since blurred the lines by dropping the Odonata name and calling them both some variant of Elium. Don't forget, there was even the short lived Elium Race model. In summary, your question has no straight forward answer and is best addressed by looking at the build sheets of specific frames. |

I believe the Odonata used carbon seat tube and seatstays, while the Elium also had a carbon top tube.
Beyond that, all of Seven's bikes are custom, so you're not going to find blanket answers to your other questions.

Wasn't there an ID8 model in there somewhere?

Isn't that the case with all "custom" frames? That's why they are custom, they are made for someone, probably not "you".

It’s my understanding that these frames have been around for over 20 years. Many custom frames are more current, and hence the geometry is easier to hunt down. |

Id8 was the renaming of the Odonata before it became a variant of the Elium.
Seven keeps good spec sheets linked to the serial number. If you have the serial number you should be able to get the original build sheet details including stiffness, handling, and weight preferences (1-10 scales) from seven assuming they'll share it. |
