The "Prouty" century ride is a fundraiser for the cancer center at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Hanover/Lebanon, NH. Second Saturday in July. 30th year this year.
I've done it a bunch of times. This year (Saturday) was huge! Cyclists are capped at 3200 riders, but I'd swear there were more. Imagine a 100 mile long bicycle parade, non-stop, all day long. While focused on cancer, it's also a real celebration of cycling. You see all kinds of bikes, all kinds of riders, all kinds of outfits, and all kinds of people.
It's a truly inspiring event.
Anybody else join in? Weather was perfect this year, with a great tailwind on the 40 mile southbound home stretch. Our group of 10 rocked and rolled along for miles at 25mph. Can you say FUN?!!!
