serotta ti max

hi,

would anyone know the value of a serotta ti-max steel frame bike (1" headest)?

it has newer xt components (about the time when v-brakes came out), v brakes, rock shox indy sl, carbon bars, Kore stem, cane creek threadless headset, xt hubs, mavic 220 rims xtr cassette, grip shift shifters, xt brakes, s-works tires and shimano

I dont know how old it is but its from the days of 1" headsets..

it has been painted matte black, I know it was called a ti max or t-max, but the rear dropouts have ritchey stamped in them.

I have been using it for the past few yeas as a town bike.

I cant find any information on steel framed serotta mt. bikes. It is an amazing frame. rode it for years and have never been on a more comfortable mt bike.

It's a steel bike..........either a Tmax or an ATX. Are the tubes ovalized? If so it's tmax.

I have a steel Max II, circa 1994. I've never seen another one. A problem with the 1" headset is that you'll never be able to buy another suspension fork, unless you find a NOS somewhere.

I purchased a LeMond mtb with the same tubeset and same vintage for $600. But, it was pretty decked out. It had a Phil Wood BB, Chris King headset and other fun stuff. Plus, it had a Team Z paintjob and they only made a handful of them (I collect that kind of stupid stuff). Other than nuts like me, most people wouldn't pay much for your bike.

Be prepared to sell it for $300-$400. The Germans will pay more. Those guys are crazy about vintage mtb's and are loving our exchange rate.

i have both for many years and love them to dead...

The value?; i honestly do not know but in a good condition it still has some great retro value.
And regarding the forks?,..ebay is packed with good options in NOS

be an ATX but it didn't fit exactly with the catalog description.

Just to elaborate on what Dave Kirk said:

ATX has top tube ovalized vertically at the head tube and 32mm round at the seat tube. The down tube is ovalized vertically at the head tube and horizontally at the BB shell. It also has a Colorado Concept tapered seat tube, 29.5mm at the top and 35mm at the bottom. Pics are my ATX.

The T Max has an external sleeve on the seat tube at the seat cluster. I think that's the easiest way to ID a T Max.

VF: What's your serial number? Some of them are in the catalog section. The Colorado AT has the letters AT at the beginning of the serial number. The ATX is coded AX. I don't believe we have a T Max code, so owners please list it if you can read it.

Mine is actually an ATX by your description It has the Colorado
Concept seat tube, bi-axially ovalized downtube and ovalized TT at the HT.
No sleeve near the seat cluster as you described and an AX serial #!
It has no ATX decal and it also has a level TT, it may have been an early
frame or a custom??

Check the serial number. ATX was introduced in 1994, so it could have been repainted twice in that amount of time. 1994 ATX catalog pic shows a nearly level top tube.

More model info:

The 1993 Legend AT also had the sleeve on the seat tube. I assume the Colorado AT did as well, but it's hard to tell from the catalog pic.

Serotta introduced a steel MTB called the CMS in 1998. I have yet to locate a picture of one, but would guess it's a refinement of the ATX.
