Legend CX - straight guage ti.

CDA CX - double butted steel.

Why is the Legend CX not double butted? Thx.

...but the L CX price is higher than the L GS, and yet the GS has double butted tubes.

Is a double butted ti tube weaker than a double butted steel tube? Why have a db steel CX frame but only a sg ti CX frame?

Good question. I assume the cx tubing is some sort of custom tubing designed for the application. Straight gage can be stronger the db. I really don't see why the cx should be more expensive than the GS. Maybe because cross is so popular right now.

My guess: there is a minimum thickness required for strength at joints whether the tubing is butted or not. On road bikes it is reasonable to reduce the guage of the tubing away from the joints. On a cross bike with its rougher expected usage the slight weigt-saving of butted tubing isn't worth the increased risk/probability of dents and bending.
