Sorry to be OT but I have a beard for the first time. I have a crappy trimmer with AA batteries that sucks. I went to amazon to get something better and was overwhelmed by choice. I want the 105/aluminum frame version of a beard trimmer with the ear/nose/etc hair attachments.

I just have done nothing for a month and it's getting furry. I am not going to go crazy with a Dali stache, just need a little trim. I might not even keep the beard.

Yes, there are a lot of them out there. Keep it simple and get a rechargeable.

Wahl makes a great one - $50-70 IIRC. Rechargeable. Love mine

I used Norelco's for years when I had a Commander Riker style beard. Once I changed to a most interesting man in the world style I needed a trimmer that would cut in the 15mm-20mm range which a lot don't. The Panasonic ER-GB80 that I got at Best Buy does .5mm stubble up to 20mm, has a slide up mini trimmer on it. $60 dollars, worth it to me.

I have a Remington PG6025, had it for a number of years (6+) use it weekly with no problems. It is rechargeable, fair amount of attachments and you can't beat the sub $20 price. It is the 105/aluminum frame of beard trimmers.

I'm ready for a new one myself. The Wirecutter always has a good rundown of the latest/best.

I have always used Panasonic. Believe it or not, the warranty is great. Every time I have a problem with mine, they just send me a whole new setup. Current generation model and everything.

Just bought a Remington trimmer for $25 at one of the big box stores, similar to one offered on Amazon.

Top rated, just below the 3X as expensive Wahl.

Corded provides a lot more power and hasn't been an issue...and I'm using it for hair cutting versus beard trimmer.

I got tired of paying $20 to tell someone #5 on the sides and #6 on top. Figured I could do that myself. So far nobody has laughed out loud. :)

ive had an oldspice branded braun for three years now. nice slider attachments, i've used it for beard grooming as well as giving myself some well-styled tapered haircuts (not just a buzz). just make sure it's fully charged before you use it

+1 for the Phillips. You can even "man scape" if you're careful!

think you could 'bic' your head with it, too?

I grow a beard out every winter and I have a Wahl Pet Groomer I got decades ago. Link (https://wahlusa.com/products/pet-pro-tm-9281-210). Just keep the blades oiled and there isn't much else to worry about. I prefer the corded option because I can't be bothered to keep something charged I only use once in awhile, and I typically stand in front of a mirror where there is a plug...I feel like I replied to a post about this very question a few years back. There may be a thread worth searching for!

Thanks. I ended up ordering a Wahl (never heard of it before) 9864SS. Amazon has a 20% coupon so it was $55 for what seems like a really good one with all of the attachments.
Made in USA with a 5 year warranty and sounds like good customer service.
I have been using my $8 trimmer with a broken guide for years so figured what the hell. And I am only getting hairier with age! Except for on my head. I also just sold some stuff in the classifieds...

I had also never heard of the Wirecutter before so that was useful.

Yes this costs about 3x what a plastic remington would have cost. Hopefully worth it.

Good call on the Wahl. It’ll last more than three times as long as the Remington.
Two other pluses: you can use it in corded mode if you go too long between recharges, and replacement blades are available for reasonable prices.

I have the same one and it's pretty great, a couple of years and and I'm 100% happy. It has basically every attachment you'd ever need and holds a charge well. Good buy with the 20% off coupon too.

Im wondering this too. I am losing my hair at a rapid rate and getting ready to just shave it completely but dont wanna bic everyday. whats the 21st century solution?

Your spouse/SO/housekeeper will appreciate this one:

https://www.amazon.com/Philips-Norelco-Trimmer-BT7215-49/dp/B0199RDFA6/

Doesn't catch 100%, but makes a huge difference. And the adjustments are very precise.

I use a scissor, and when I get a haircut they use a trimmer.

Cordless and rechargeable is the key.

I use a panasonic when I my goat comes back

I use a wahl for my my head. Removing the blade guard on the wahl lets me get to "cinco cero" (five zeros 00000) which is nice and short.....the last step before shaved.

I started a beard last winter (still have it) and was overwhelmed by the choices too. I got this el cheapo and have been perfectly happy with it and not felt the need for more: https://www.amazon.com/Philips-Norelco-Groomer-MG3750-50/dp/B01MSHQ5IQ/ref=dp_ob_title_hpc?th=1

Got lost in this one just now...facial hair for 3 decades now, so definitely a topic of interest.

But never mind that...Wirecutter is great. I'd never heard of it. I just perused their gift guide and (not to derail, but) even a few bike-related (if you're a parent or have a sense of humor)

Pizza safety flag? Hello Kitty bottle cage? Jeff Goldblum sequin pillow?

Maybe not... https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181215/54fc7724374d66a1d2a46ee73c5961bb.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181215/69641127cf3a76c5f75c2b3b7c746296.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20181215/2bd1cb4d64fdc4cfcdab9a48b550a5b9.jpg

I just use a corded Wahl hair clippers. Cheap, cuts well, lasts forever, basically zero maintenance, and serves double duty for kid haircuts and trimming my own hair.

I can’t think of a single time I’ve missed a cordless trimmer. Maybe extended travel, but I generally just let it grow. Every battery trimmer/shaver I’ve owned is ready for the trash in a few years. No thanks.
