Being into photography, Bill Cunningham's street photography for fashion was, indeed, iconic. And he used to bicycle everywhere. His weekly slideshows on the latest fashion and voiceover were great and filled with enthusiasm.

And did it all by pedaling everywhere in NYC. Famed Vogue editor, Anna Wintour, said it best, "We all dress for Bill."

He was great.

I think this may still be on Netflix. Definitely worth watching.

I just read the story on the NYT web site. I'm not big on fashion, but would often check out his slide shows.

RIP

Yes, interesting documentary even if you are not a fashionista. I'm not but I enjoy seeing what motivates people who are passionate and excellent at what they do. Quirky guy none the less.

if you notice, he uses a film camera. Kind of like riding a steel bike these days.

As a photographer, I appreciate great photographers in fashion, like Richard Alvedon (http://www.theavedonfoundation.net), that also took some iconic portraits. You don't realize how much fashion has an influence on culture until you see and remember iconic pictures. There was an HBO documentary on Vogue and its fashion editors (In Vogue: The Editor's Eye) and see the creative talent that creates some of these lasting images.
