View Full Version : Is it rule violation if CK hubs don't match CK headset and bottom bracket?

I'm thinking of building up my first set of wheels, but they won't be a great match for the bike. I have a rather used 32H CK front hub in "pewter" laying around, so I figure I'd work from that. The bike is a brushed titanium Seven (white graphics) with black CK headset and bottom bracket. I think the pewter might work well with the Ti, but I can't picture it all build up. I was thinking of pairing it to an H Plus Son Archetype rim in either black or gunmetal.

I'm curious whether people think the aesthetic will work here.

If it's gonna bother you and you know it, then try to find the right hub. If it's just a small thing, it's no issue at all. It wouldn't bother me at all personally.

FWIW, my "pewter" CK headset is a *tiny* bit purple. I'll try to see if I can capture it in photo later, but it is still a nice shade. Not sure if yours is the same. I also have a black CK headset on a different bike.. and with a Ti frame, the aesthetic will still be quite good.

You're fine. You're dealing with colors that are pretty muted and won't clash.

A little sprezzatura never hurt.

Or, send me the bb. I bet you get asked to leave your riding group.

As long as they are rasta colors.

If it's not, it sure as hell should be! :)

hey. if you can find the pieces at a good price. rock it
if youre going to buy it all new. might aswell make it match...unless the theme goes with the theme of your bike

As a note, if you decide to do convert to all pewter in the future, CK pewter is the hardest color to match, as far as one batch to the next. Sort of a range from gray to purple.

If.. If you decide to go all wonky with colors. Lace them to box section tb14s. The multi color parts will be flashy. Last thing you'd want are flashy rims to further the flash. Flash flash flash. Just my two cents hah
