Will a Campag 9v chain work well on a Campag 8v drive system?

IME you can use the 10 speed chain all the way down to 8 speed. Have not tried ever in a 6 or 7 speed bike but would not surprise me that if works just fine, in 5 definitely it wont, too much space between the cogs.

really? huh, learn something new every day. Is this true across the board, as I'm assuming they believe there is some increased performance? But say you use 10v like me. I always use ten speed chains. 11 speed seem too pricey, and thin to work? 9 speed sometimes tempts me, but is it worth saving 10 bucks for 1000's of km of even slightly inferior shifting?

But maybe all that thinking I have is wrong? Not that important of a question but now I'm curious.

Back when I used friction shifting and 8 speed.....would always use a 9 speed chain. Gave some extra space between cogs in back....didn't have to be quite as precise with friction as index, and didn't try to be on two cogs at once. Worked better.

But for medern shifting systems.....meaning 10's and 11's, I would match the chain to the cassette. As has been mentioned on here numerous times.
