Just a while ago

tubeless set up easily - tape down, insert valve, put tubeless tire on, inflate (no sealant) - <5 minutes

Thumbs up

Nice! What length nipples did you use? I'm unsure whether CF rims might need taller ones then typical alloy rims... Doug

I have used standard nipples in the past. Not much difference in the thickness of carbon rims compared to aluminum rims, eyelets or no eyelets.

I use 14mm nipples(Sram SecureLock)..not for spoke length but a wee bit more out of the rim to get more purchase with the spoke wrench. Particularly with 'delta' shaped rims. Have been since the days of CXP-33s.

BUT, I use Wheelsmith rim measuring rods that seat the same place the shoulder of the nipple does so accurate ERD measurement.

And for those who build with disc brake rims...I lace rear inside pulling(head out) disc side and outside pulling(head-in) cassette side and inside pulling both sides front. DT says one thing, shimano says another but in the 'grand scheme of things', it really doesn't matter.

All done - thanks to the rain

I been sitting on the CK R45D QR rear hub for like 2 years since I got it from the co-op...thanks to the rain, and the-house clearance where I got the DT 350 TA front hub ($40) from and those carbon rims ($60 by way of Doug pal), I finally put them together yesterday morning. The spokes are whatever I can find in my box.

The amazing part is the "spokes are whatever I can find in my box" part

i read that the rear 24h rim has spoke holes drilled for a radial NDS and a 2x DS.

can i lace it up as 2x NDS, 2x DS or in any other pattern?

if not, how can i tell which spoke hole is for NDS/DS, and which spoke pattern?

I'm trying to figure out what is wrong with the lacing. It looks like bog-standard 28 spoke 2 cross.

Many rims are drilled for right/left angles, but few are drilled for a specific number of crossings. In any case, spoke angle is usually pretty easy to determine, either by visual inspection (see if the spoke holes appear to emerge in a particular direction), or by dropping a nipple into the hole and seeing the angle at which it naturally sits.

I think the valve stem hole is not aligned in the right spot. Purely aesthetic but also an indicator of the builder's experience/attention to detail. One of my first wheels was laced like that. Many years later it's still problem free
