...with the Pope asking him “how many tinto” – the sugar-laced, concentrated black coffee shot found all over Colombia – he had needed to drink “to climb so strongly.”

Beautiful bike. Hope someone actually has a opportunity to ride this Pinarello.

The Pope is originally Argentinian.

I think most of these papal gifts either go into a museum or are sold and the proceeds given to charity. I remember reading about this somewhere. Athletes give popes gifts like this often. |

Yep, in addition to the colors, you can see the yellow emblem on the front fork.

The pinarello looks waaay better than that ugly ass Venge Vias...
Also shouldn't the brand name be replaced by the athlete's country name in Latin? |

Egan was considerate of the Pope by giving him the option of going down to 46t - something a DA FD can't handle

The bike pictured with Bernal sold for 14,000 Euro, approx $15,000. Seems like a good deal.

I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that they asked: "Your Holiness, would you prefer rim or disk brakes?" His response was "WWCR?" So they went with rim.

Not really sure why the Pope needs brakes anyways...
I would imagine you just ride down a hill, miraculously going the right speed and gently stop at the bottom. [shrug] |

Did someone let the Pope know his crank was recalled?
