JIS. I sub-bed 113mm UN-72 for Mavic all the time. 114 and 116 were the Mavic road lengths. |

This bring up another question. Will Shimano 9 speed cranksets work with 11 speed campy everything else? Thanks, Bambam |
Should work fine.
I haven't any experience with that exact setup, but I have run 7 speed cranks with a 10 speed drivetrain. Worked well enough to race criteriums, which I did on it. BL |

crank
I forgot that the shimano 9 speeds are octolink.
I would love to find a starfish or maybe go another route. TA,Sugino maybe? I think if I go with anyting less thatn a 8/9 speed crankset I may have problems with the chain going between the two chainrings. The BB thread will allow me to thread a standard BB cup(Italian) in about 3 turns but I know I need more or I will have to use this Mavic BB. Does anybody know the best way to clean out the BB threads? I would really like to use the Ultratourque crank that goes with the rest of the campy bits. Thanks, BamBam |

Mavic chamfered BB shells are supposed to allow you to go back to threaded BBs if you want. I have at least one bike with a chamfered shell that has a threaded BB in it, if that is your issue. Velo Orange makes a modern threadless BB as well. But if you haven't tried fixing your frame, I wouldn't buy more stuff until you've done that. You can "convert" any crankset to 9/10 spacing by replacing the inner ring. |

My '89 Paramount had a standard dura ace double w/ mavic chamfered BB, I switched it out to a sugino compact w/ phil wood BB after having the threads chased, no problems.

Thanks
Thanks for all the help.
I'm hoping I can clean it and ease a BB in there. If not I plan on taking it to a bike shop or builder and have them chase it. If the thread are toat I just want to work through all my posibilities. Is there a prefered way to clean out the shell? |
I have a Mavic chamfering BB tool if you are interested. $20.00 plus shipping.
