painting a ti frame

Guys any tips as to how to prep a ti frame before priming and painting ,as its inherently a hard metal and does not take paint easily .

My local painter used sand blast on Ti frames before painting.
He said that will improve the adhesion of the painting.

ti painting

thanks i have seen self etching primer as well which has chemicals which bond to the metal.
