I had corresponded with a fellow early in 2009 on a Serotta and things fizzled out. He contacted me yesterday and said he still has the bike, but prefers a local transaction.

If nobody comes forward, another option that's worked well for me is to ask the seller for the phone # of their local bike shop, you then contact their LBS to arrange packing/shipping using your $$, then have the seller drop off the bike. No muss, no fuss for them.

I'm sorta close...is he willing to deliver it about 45 minutes away?
Also, maybe he could drop it off at Kinetic Systems in Clarkston, Mich. (10-15 minutes from Flint) and the store would pack and ship? iirc, the # is 248-625-7000. Kinetics is a Serotta dealer.
