My First 300 mile week
OK, 300 may be normal for many of you bu it was a reach for me. After averaging about 100 a week I decided a few weeks ago to step it up. For the last 2 weeks I averaged over 200 miles. Last week I took a work vacation in Palm Springs and rode just about every morning (85-90 by early AM) and hit 301.5 for the last week.
I topped off the week with a spectacular crash over an embankment on a perfectly straight road going downhill, flipping down the hill. A couple of scratches here and there but nothing more. Anyone else have a record mileage week? Or month? Guy Gadois |

Guy - Be careful! Increasing your weekly mileage by that much in such a short time can be a recipe for disaster. Your body will probably react to the sudden increased work load and resulting stress in a couple of weeks. Sometimes there is a lag period of up to a couple of weeks.

Good for you to have put in some great riding! As of today some major factors that were inhibiting my riding are behind me so I'm looking forward to following your lead. |

I've done a couple of 200 mile weeks . . .
. . . but it was always toward the end of the summer after slowly building up to it. I don't think I could do what you just did without major quadriceps explosion!
Are you sure your legs didn't simply rebel and make you flip over? BBD

My record week is 930-950 miles, the longest day being 225 miles, but I was on a bicycle trip through new england at the time. I'd never train that much. hehe
