Change your batteries...
It's a new season, change your batteries. I got out at 5:45 this morning to commute to work only to have my headlight go out 10 minutes later on what is usually the busiest and always...worst paved road of my route. We are going to have a sunny 70 degree day today, but this morning it was fog mixed with pea soup. My luck.
I ended up bailing, turning around, throwing the bike in the house, showering, changing and jumping into the car. Very disappointing. Change or charge your batteries.

I'm in the dark enough as it is...
that I don't spend too long riding in the dark. The little LED light is fine for the 15-30 minutes I need it in the morning. I just needed the 15-30 minutes which the batteries weren't able to supply.

Buy 2
Get yourself another LED jobbie and stick it in your bag -- next to that handy dandy chain tool

I have a Busch-Mueller Ixon light, it runs on 4 AA's for about 5hrs; it has an "emergency" mode, where it tells you when the batts run low and you can switch to a lower power mode. I keep a fast charger at hand, takes 15mins to recharge 4 2500mAh NiMH's. That said, I know the feeling when the light doesn't work.... Anyway, happy commuting!
