headbutting in cycling?

I saw this on BikeRadar.com about a headbutt at the Tour Down Under. Here's a link to video, http://www.bikeradar.com/news/articl...headbutt-14213. Yikes!

Disqualified from the race seems a little too lenient of a penalty for an intentional headbutt. It's racing and all, but it's not like they accidentally locked handlebars or crossed wheels...

ooh, don't forget that $180 fine. I'm sure that hurts as much as a fractured shoulder that needs a plate and screws to heal.

It should be a minimum six-month suspension plus fine. Make cheating riders think twice about intentionally seeking to cause injury to fellow racers. Poor sportsmanship like that should not be tolerated.

makes it wonder what that guy did that we didnt see on camera. Not that it makes it ok but that seems like pay back to me. I once waited an entire season to get a guy back when I palyed hockey, but it is much easier to give the pay back in hockey for the obvious reasons.

Wow, that's quite the headbutt. Even "better" than Wellens Karate kick in a 'cross race.

"He said he had his head down in the sprint and as he looked up he went into Matt's elbow," Brown said. "He didn't mean it - it's just very unfortunate."

This would be a fine story if not for the video...

Yeah, right? He must've thought that the tv cameras were aimed elsewhere at that moment.
