NEW: Campagnolo Levante Gravel Wheelset

It's 8am Eastern so I can post this now...

The new product from Campagnolo today is the Levante Gravel wheelset. It's a true gravel derived wheel - 30mm deep with offset rims front and rear, 30.6mm OD / 25mm ID able to accommodate a 38 to 76mm tire! Two-Way Fit of course. And they are standard spoke design. So more user-friendly servicing. And many people do not like the 3G style lacing. So this gives riders an option. Also, the graphics are designed/styled like the ones for Ekar. Designed around the N3W freehub body, these can be used with Ekar or any 9, 10, 11, 12 Campy drivetrain. Shimano and XDr drivers will be available also.

Retail will be $1899.95 USD

Campagnolo WILL have a few pairs at Eroica CA for display this weekend. Shops will be able to start selling them today as Campy does have stock in the US. My first 6 pair are on the truck today.

Bravo...recognizing the 'gravel' demand. AND 9-13s compatible..along with shimano and sram 'options'...

Campagnolo could come out with something that watered the plants, washed the car, made you coffee in the morning, and was free and still, 'what, that's it??'....

High end shimano gravel wheelset below...that's EKAR compatible.

Tim

Everyone was reading something into the whole "Dream Bigger" campaign. It really was just a rebranding for Campy. Trying to get away from the normal view of the brand. It was about community and cycling as a whole. Everyone was flipping it into this massive 13 speed wireless telepathically controlled shifting that was a power meter built into your legs and blah blah blah. The crazy stuff people were say was just so out there. It got so bad some people from Campy joined forums to lurk and read it cause they got tired of me sending them messages about it. And the silly thing is, NOW, that this is all that came out, everyone is freaking out AGAIN saying how Campy is going under, they are being bought by a Chinese company. That this proves they are finished. The love-to-hate Campy is soooo strong.

It's a really nice wheelset. I love the looks and the features. I like that it's a traditional spoke lacing. I wish the pricing was different and flipped with the Shamal Carbons. But I don't make those rules. But it's a great wheelset. 1485 a pair is nothing to shoo away for a Campy designed/manufactured wheel. If this is anything like the Bora, Shamals WTOs, Ultras, these are gonna be hella good wheels.

What are the freehub options? XDR? Assuming Ekar is stock?

EDIT: Answered my own question

76mm! I had no idea gravel had incorporated the plus bike trend as well! A 3” tire might have a pretty weird profile on a 25mm ID rim tho…

Kidding aside these look good. I don’t get why people are mad - seems like with Ekar, Campy finally broke out of the little niche they’ve been stuck in for years. They’re even getting some OEM spec now! Seems like a good thing if you want the company to have any kind of future.

Yeah, seems counter to the event but it's a gravel wheel and given a lot of the Eroica events incorporate gravel sections it's not too far off the mark. But yes, discs does throw it off a bit. I think it was more they were going to be there and the release just happened to be the same time more than anything.

That's my feeling but there is a massive love-to-hate Campy out there that clouds everything. They are OE on 25+ bike brands now due to 1 group... Ekar. How that's a bad thing I don't know. But people still scream about them going under and all.

Aside from the name, what makes these wheels stand out vs the competition?

Why would I buy these instead of say Enve ag25 which cost less and have similar specs?
