Best Bike Fitter in NY?

Can anyone give feedback or recommendations on bike fitters in the NYC area. Anywhere within a two hour drive or so?

Justin's fantastic and is an easy train ride on MetroNorth. Similarly, Abraham Soler and crew at Signature Cycles in Greenwich are also first rate. Signature is also an easy commute from Grand Central; it's about 50 minutes on the train and the shop is literally in the same building as the MetroNorth station.

I have bikes from both of them, for the record.

ACME in Brooklyn or Katonah is my favorite. They use both Retul and GURU bike for step by step search for optimal fit. They fitted 1,000s of people hence they know what works and what doesn't. It is expensive but not much more than others in NYC area.

I also had a fit from Manuel at Maglia Rosa and liked him and his process very much. It is more old school, it lasts 3hrs at least, there is a lot of exchange about what your experience in biking is, what your goals are etc; he uses a Serotta bike fit tool to set you up. He himself rides extensively many different bikes and knows what works for road, gravel and Mtb.

It depends what you going after. If you want to have a shop which uses the latest and greatest tech for fitting ACME is the place. ACME also has an advantage if you after triathlon and time trial settings.

If you want to have a more classic, human based, very thorough bike fit I prefer Maglia Rosa.

I had few bikes designed by both and the result ideal geometry was very very close between the two of them. I feel Maglia Rosa set you up with what ideally you want to become as a biker in few months ahead (slimmer, more powerful and more flex hence a bit more aggressive stance). With Manuel you can discuss about a goal you have and he will fit you with that goal in mind.
ACME instead is great at finding the best optimal solution given the status quo of our physical condition.

Hope that helps

Several years ago when Justin was still at Signature Cycles I attended a fit seminar event they put on one evening and remember being pretty impressed. I would not hesitate to make an appt with Justin at BOV if I needed some things worked out.

I haven't been able to confirm whether Paul Levine has truly, completely retired, or has simply divested his ownership of Signature so he could get some me-time and fly under the radar, but if there's any chance that he's still doing fittings he's the guy you want. And I'll bet both Justin and Abraham would agree.

I know quite a few in the NY/CT/PA/NJ area and Jonathan Blyer at ACME is where I'd go. Why? He is the lead instructor for the Guru Fit School. He trains them all. He's done thousands of fittings and has an incredible selection of bars and saddles when doing a fit. A real fitting on a Retul or Guru DFU isn't cheap but it's well worth it when the right person does it.

Does ACME Bicycling Co do a cheaper fit instead of the whole shebang w/ biometrics?

Ditto on Justin @ Black Oak or the gang at Signature, who were the pioneers of the boutique bike shop and fitting.

Will also add Lori at Pacific Cycling in Stamford (and long time Signature alum).
