Sapim Spokes

Sapim spokes seem to rank high on the exotic scale these days. Any reason other than their limited availability?
Thanks

Sapim Spokes

They've been used in the pro peleton for many years, and many high quality prebuilt wheelset are laced with sapims.....Bontrager, Cane Creek, Easton (Velomax), etc.

I wouldn't say they are any better or worse than DTs or Wheelsmiths. They are harder to find, yes. Their CXRay ovalized spokes are very nice and extremely expensive. They stamp the Sapim name on the spoke shaft right above the elbow, rather than on the head.

I like their straight gauge spokes for use in track wheels or tough road wheels. You can get them extremely inexpensively from Dan's Comp (a BMX mail order shop) -- $13.95 for 50 last time I looked. Can't beat the price.
