No. You are not crazy.

Make sure there is zero rust and it's accident/flood free.

Price?

If it's for sale by you, make sure to give yourself a good price :-)

Not crazy if you live around curves and sunshine. I'd go by condition/color/hardtop over miles though. If you're going to do any spirited driving, get a later unit with the less snappy rear. Drive it first, as it'd be a pretty boring car in a lot of places.

I'd also get a Boxster S for the bigger, more responsive motor, but that's just me. More part throttle grunt equals more fun in street cars.

Just don't pay TOO much of a premium for ultra-low mileage because if you drive it much that premium value will evaporate and its market value will be closer to an average S2000. Quite a few items that need replacing are time related as much as mileage related so you may be surprised by some repairs that are necessary at lower mileage than you expect.

I don't know about an S2000 but my experience with BMWs and MINI had me replacing cooling system components that are now made of plastics and aluminum rather than brass and steel.

Well, your instinct to get the go-ahead is probably correct, but I'm betting there is somebody specific you probably want to run this by.

Is the purchase for the drive or the investment?

It is true, the Euro brands cannot make cooling systems and rubber/plastics to save their lives. For some reason, the American and Japanese brands have no problems building gaskets and radiators that seemingly last as long as the vehicle, while Europeans can't make one that lasts 5yrs/75k with no signs of improvement into 2019.

S2000 engines do fail in the most violent way, but will happen between 90k miles and never. Get a 2.2 for the midrange tq and longer life, it also comes with less snap oversteer (the non-fun kind).

Crazy you are not. That is a nice collectible whiz bang of a car. Overvalued in the tuner arena and undervalued in the collected market.
