Crashed My Ottrott

Today out for a ride with my wife on a this glorious Sunday and some knuckle head on a motorized skateboard comes into my side of bike lane ,not looking, listening to music BLAM head on at a good clip. Both he and I are fine ,but both the TT and DT cracked on my Ottrott just behind the headtube. Anybody know if anyone could fix the bike,I absolutely loved it;((( @Dave Kirk @Ben Serotta @Mike Lopez

Wow. Any police report filled out? Glad youre ok, but that really sucks about the bike. Any chance the cracks were there before the crash?

No the bike was seriously low mileage and clean,no defects,It was that hard a hit. I have no experience with this,is the dude liable? I did not file a police report at the time as I was more thinking if I needed to go to the hospital.

Did you get his info? No matter, I would file a police report and call your home owners insurance tomorrow.

Yes, I got his info and he stayed with me while my wife road home to get the car. He offered to try and make it right. I am in NYC and hate to get all up in it with the police. I am fine, some bruises ,but nothing broken so I should be grateful that it was'nt worse, BUT THE BIKE;((((

you needed to get a police report...

reading this makes my blood boil. the bike lanes were such nightmares today.

when the guy who hit you finds out what the bike is worth no way he's paying it all. with a police report you could try to sue the guy, but good luck. home owners may be your best bet, but they also may require a police report.

Id get a police report. honestly it doesnt really matter if theres video of him being in your lane or not--the fact of the matter is you were in a bike and he was operating a MOTORIZED vehicle recklessly.

The key is he had a motored vehicle not subject to the same rules as a normal skateboard

Thanks Guys, I don't want to work the system on this, I bought the bike used at great price and I think a used Ottrott in todays market is $2500-3000. If I could get that and look for another one, that would be great. I am grateful that I am not writing this from a hospital bed or worse.....

The thought of these things on penn state campus is nightmare fuel. They haven't gotten around to infesting us with them yet. If they do, I'm going to start carrying my cordless reciprocal saw around with me.

Probably have to wear boots with steel ankle guards too
