What is your "normal" distance on your rides.

I was discussing this with a fellow cyclist and we were comparing routes, duration, miles, and so on, blah blah blah.

I typically go out for a couple of hours. Maybe between 30 to 50 miles. I know some of you are animals riding metrics every morning before walking up hill in the snow barefoot to your job.

Regardless, I am curious what milage you put in on a normal ride? This is not at all a compare your prowess type of question. I am just curious if what I ride is kind of the norm or I really need to pick up the miles.

I rode a lot this summer, but probably a fraction of what you folks have, but with that and diet change I altered my weight and physique dramatically, which has been great. Total body transformation if you will.

While commuting:

15 miles each way/30 miles a day/150 miles a week

Weekends, a 40-65 mile group ride on saturday if I can, a 30-40 mile ride on sunday if I can.

I don't get to commute to work often, and during the fall, making the group rides is near impossible.

average length last couple years has been 40 miles/ride outdoors, 18 miles/ride indoors

At 67 and retired, I get to ride when I want, when I can, and when weather permits. Four times a week is pretty typical.

Seldom less than 30+ miles, usually a couple of those and a 40-50 miler as well.

All on vintage steel/aluminum, of course.

Most rides are 1 mile in city around a college campus. Other rides are fun 10 mile loops when I have a break. Then only on weekends can I head out for anything more than 20 miles. Way less miles than most but I love it and it's what works with busy grad school life.

Normal rides are about 25 miles, hour and a half or so. Those are the baseline rides.

My weekend rides are around 40 - 45miles (70km), weekday rides are typically 25 miles (40km)

Having a toddler has reduced weekday rides to a minimum. Being diagnosed earlier this summer with a heart issue reduced milage of weekend rides.

It should be noted that time/mileage can change dramatically depending on if one is riding on mostly flat, or mostly hilly terrain.

I have no business answering a question about actually riding, so I'll just keep my times/distances to myself.

I saw a year end Strava analysis of miliions upon millions of rides recorded and I think the average distance was in the low 20s.

After I retired I go out for a ride about 4-5 times a week. Still, I find it tough to go over 30 miles or so. I just find it gets less enjoyable after that. Maybe if there were fewer hills.

Depends if I'm riding in the woods or on the roads!

A typical weekend road ride would be around 40-60 miles.

A typical weekend mountain bike ride would be 15-20 miles.

But they will take the same amount of time!

An after work MTB ride might only be 7-10 miles 1-1.5 hours.

I commute 20 miles most days unless it's raining. Wednesday is our local race ride so I'll get about 30-50 miles that day. Sunday ride is typically 60-100 miles.

Not as much as I used to when I raced regularly

Yes, I live in richy-richville Indiana (Pacers and Colts players live there) where it is flat, I think we might have a hill or two that might go up 50 feet or so. Mostly flat country roads, but it is indiana so no matter which way you turn it is always into a head wind. with out fail.

Teacher, husband, dad, etc. I am just curious as my friends discuss what is a real ride (they are just bragging) and what is a warm up.

I just was curious to talk to other folks to see if there was a consistency or similarity to my lifestyle commitments and milage. Looks like a lot of you are like me.
