Dave Kirk meets Frank Lloyd Wright
Dave Kirk's Gothic masterpiece. I resisted painting it - it was so beautiful naked - but both Dave and Joe "The Man" Bell read me the riot act. Thankfully it was in JB's artful hands, and everyone loves the result (including me!). JB developed that color himself and was creative with Dave's signature. I am grateful for his guidance and wisdom.
I'll get & post better pictures, but thought it would be fun to capture Dave's beautiful metal work while it rests on a Frank Lloyd Wright chair at a friend's place. Sculptural, functional art both. BTW, still trying to figure out the build. Alloy wheels, silver groupset, simple and with modern functionality. (I love the understated and beautiful old Campy stuff). Not sure if such a thing exists. Just don't like the modern Darth Vader carbon fiber stuff, and this frame says " steel classic" like the best of them. Maybe I'll get some ideas at this weekend's California Eroica. Cheers. Last edited by Ciavete; 04-11-2018 at 10:38 PM. Reason: typo! |

I have a Eisentraut with silver chorus on it. It looks awesome. Record or chorus would look great.

Looks great. Did Dave make a fork too?
What are you riding at Eroica? |

That looks fantastic. I've been wondering when the Gothic would show up.

That is gorgeous, I'm a big fan of green and that one I prefer over my previous favorite green frame, my old Della Santa.

That Della Santa is molto bella!
Yes Dave also make a fork and stem, also masterpieces. He's since made a steel fork for my Doriano De Rosa Prima, a great bike that I think will be greater with a steel fork. (Putting it on soon.) I'm just doing the festival at this year's Eroica. Last year I rode a Ron Cooper my buddy Tony @ A Bicycle Odyssey loaned me. And I got crazy lucky to also ride the Eroica in Gaiole, where I rode a Masi. Between the Cooper & Masi experiences, and some time riding a Richard Sachs, I've become convinced there's some magic mojo in steel forks. Comfortable and unflappable, even on some real beat-up strada bianca. They just feel better to me. Sure they're heavier, but so am I. |

I just did a ride last week going from Lone Pine up to Whitney Portal and back, a pretty hefty climb and descent. I averaged ~31mph on the descent and the steel forks on that bike shrugged off the lousy pavement like they didn't care.

But that's not the point. The point is, that thing is plain beautiful. |

While I loved that bike raw, I like it even MORE with paint. And I really like your DT logo choice. I'd like to replicate that style when I order my second Kirk
Just gorgeous. I would put modern stuff on it. I tried an old school build recently and just like the new bar shape and component performance much more. Nice candidate for the new record 12sp ! |
