Custom GS Ottrott
After a series of hiccups I finished the build on Thanksgiving and was able to enjoy two rides this weekend, including a gorgeous climb up to Crystal Lake yesterday. The ride is sublime, both going up and down, will likely need a shorter stem and crank arms but those are future considerations.
Frameset and Cane Creek headset courtesy of lzuk SR 11 (Record brakes, Chorus cassette) groupset, Thomson seatpost, Ritchey stem and bars from Clean39T (with a helpful save from StephenCL on the front derailleur) H plus Son Archetypes on White Industry hubs, Fizik saddle and tape already lying around. Higher resolution (not sure why I'm unable to insert these in line) |

Dude, you really helped me out and I'm very appreciative.
I don't imagine parting with it but in case I do…you're in line (but not first). I think I will have to find someone with 170mm SR cranks to swap for these 175s — scraped a pedal coming out of a turn on a fast descent on my first ride! Serious toe overlap as well… |

Thanks, clearly a case where the famous Groucho Marx line does not apply. Those are both lovely.
I'm planning a dual-Ottrott ride with SoCalSteve, guess I'll have to take a similar photo… |

Outstanding balance between performance and comfort. The bike feels very responsive when climbing, power transfer is immediate. Incredibly stable descending; yesterday we had wind gusts nearing 30mph and despite being buffeted by a particularly strong crosswind when coming through a sharp left it held its line very well. Made some tweaks
I've been gradually tweaking the fit and aesthetics, think I'm done for the foreseeable future. Changes:
I prefer the polished cockpit to the black, but was hoping it would match the Ti tubes and lugs better. Maybe Eriksen/Moots/other Ti stuff in the future but man that stuff is pricey. ![]() ![]() |
