Could this happen in Europe? I don't know, I'm just wondering if it's things like this that relegate us to being a second-class (as far as racing is concerned) cycling nation?

I've known a lot of bad USCF officials in my day, but I've never known a rich one. Bottom line is the bulk of these people are our Dad's and Wive's working for pennies just so that we can race for a free tune up. As frustrated as I can become with the USCF God bless them because without them there would be no racing, I just wish somebody would remind them that the oppisite is also true.

this is atypical and some bs story that's born out of
the reg for the natz in penn right now. me thinks that
the software used to register prolly checked out or that
the right hand didn't know what the left was doing. one
thing is for sure, as fraysee said (and has always suggested)
is that signing up for the natz is bs; you should have to qualify,
like we did in the old(er) days. win/place/have a fine ride in
your districts, and you'll qualify for the natz. regardless, there
is no reason that an elite field need be 150 deep for a natz
champs. an open race - sure. the natz ought to have more
discretion wrt who's allowed to show up atmo.

FWIIW we have 3 maybe 4 nats winners and 1 elite winner so far from our team and sponsor bike shop...wow.
