Seeing your ex-bike on the road

It's like seeing an ex- GF/BF. Glad it is gone, it's afforded you something better, but it's still sexy and desirable

I was caught by my ex-Crumpton today while on a beautiful sunny Sunday AM ride. It didn't quite fit me right (I bought it here, used)and sold if to an acquaintance of mine. DAMN, that thing is sexy. It had rather battered Dura Ace 7800 and a pewter King wheelset with Archetype rims and a beaten old stem and bar (for that bike anyways)

Ditching it afforded me the chance to buy a custom ti CX bike, but I have never owned such a gorgeous road bike.

I miss you, Crumpy, but we are better off apart 💔

I've seen my old Madone a few times in passing. Two of my other frames are off on the other side of the state, and haven't seen them out and about, but I know they're in good hands.



Have also seen one of my father's old cars while out on a ride on the same day when I saw my old Madone.

I see my old Ottrott ST every time I ride with the friend that i sold it to.

It doesn't bother me a bit as I know she loves it and is getting good use from it.

I saw my very first road bike (1990 Trek 2300) on Craigslist a few years ago.

I sold a Legend locally a few years back and not soon after I spotted it stripped to the bone and posted on eBay. The frame turned up recently on another forum, but I've managed to resist and let it go.

It was humiliating, yes. The new owner is 20yrs my senior too! He iis supremely fit for his age , however

I lent my Tommasini to a friend and he crashed on it and offered to buy it. WE still ride together and sometimes we switch bikes. Somehow that bike seems to ride better now that he owns it. It's hard to explain.

Saw a guy wearing blue jeans screaming down a hill on my old Litespeed Tuscany (Great Bike)
that I sold to a friend. Turns out he HAD stolen it!
Never saw it again.
