SOLD. 1988 Serotta Colorado II 56 cm - Modern Build (Dura Ace)

Made the decision to trim the herd a little. Bought this bike from the original owner 6 years ago and built it up with modern Dura Ace and some custom wheels I had made for me by ROL some years back. Extremely fun bike, in really good shape. Tried to show all paint chips or decal flaking. Has been well cared for, and is generally in excellent shape save for a few paint scratches and blemishes. No dents. Bike has never been crashed during my ownership.

Frame: Serotta Colorado II 1988 (56 cm) (As best of a date as I can figure)
Bars: Cinelli drop
Stem: Cinelli
Post: American Classic
Seat: Selle Italia SLR (Ti tubing)
Wheels: Rol Race Sl w/ bladed spokes
Crankset: Dura Ace 7800 (53/39)
Front D: Dura Ace 7800
Rear D: Dura Ace 7800 (10 spd)
Cassette: PG1070 cassette (12-26)
Shifters: Dura Ace 7800 downtube 10 spd
Headset: Original Dura Ace
Brake Levers: Original Dura Ace (can't remember the model at the moment)
Tires: Continental Gatorskins (lot of life left)

I also still have the rest of the original dura-ace groupset (mavic front derailieur, and minus the right downtube shifter) and Mavic Wheelset that are available. Look Keo Sprint pedals available for additional $50.

SOLD.

Dog not included.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Any interest in selling as frame/fork/headset? I'd be in.

I could be swayed. PM me an offer. I'll more than likely wait a few more days to see if I can get it gone all at once.

Shipping costs just didn't end up making sense with the dog.

Beautiful bike! I am not an expert, but that looks like an earlier frame, not a Colorado 2. Traditional seat stay cluster, the over the BB cable guides ,Cinelli BB even the Columbus stickers suggest a pre Colorado Serotta. Like to hear from the Serotta experts on this one.

More than welcome additional information! I had been told it was a Colorado II by a few people, but would be cool to hear from some experts!

It looks like a mix of Club Special/Nova Special features from the general era. What's the serial #?

Yes I agree with parris, definitely not a Colorado 2 also because the chainstays are straight. What does the Columbus sticker say exactly as I can not read it.The routing of the rear gear cable on top of the chain stay and the over the BB routing definitely indicates a much earlier bike,

Sorry it took a bit, but the Serial appears to be 76901. Possibility it is 78901, but it didn't look like the top of the "6" closed. Any insight would be much appreciated!

Just curious what's the Columbus decal read as? The decal on the frame looks to be a different era/type than what's on the fork. Given the majority of features it looks like a mid 80's frame that may have been repainted.

100% not a Colorado II. Check the serials number thread to see what it is and how old it might be. This is a mid 80's Nova or Nova special that likely had a re-spray at some point. The give away is the cable routing on the top of the BB and the lack of fast back seat stays. Also check the catalogues and you see that the C II was introduced later than 88.

Nice! Thanks for the info. I'm not entirely sure how to navigate the serial system pre 1990.

The serial is 76901, so i'm assuming that means 1987? No way it is a '76, right?

Also, here are the columbus sticker decals... not sure if they are correct at this point. Any help is much appreciated as it may change my mind on selling or the price. Want to make sure I have the right info to you guys for evaluation.

If it was re-sprayed, wouldn't there be a painters signature somewhere?
