Tell us anything that gets you excited, upbeat or positive...
This is a free-form topic with no fixed agenda or focusing on any specific subject matter. I sort of got tired of the same vanilla topics that get brought up every year, same time and same place and sometimes same people!
Everyone is welcome to participate, you don't have to be a card-carrying member of any exclusive club. Nobody here has a monopoly over the conversation. The only ground rule is...please exercise good judgment, keep it positive and helpful. The purpose in me doing this is, hopefully, to draw out certain ideas or people we don't come across often around here without worrying about on or off topic. Thanks for participating. I will lead by example, I will start first. Last September, I get to bring my bike and fly in a small plane piloted by my friend Rick to do a ride in west Texas at fort Davis. It reduced what would have been a 8-hr drive to 2.5 and I arrived at a much better shape to do the 75-mile organized ride the next day. Actually, right after we landed at alpine, I hopped on my bike and rode 26 miles into town, get to do a warmup ride which is even better! We were able to leave on Friday afternoon and get back on Sunday with minimal disruption to family and work. I am hoping we can do this again next year. |

Probably not what you're looking for, and it will be a little but corny, but what gets me the most up beat is just holding my wife. Since it's a cycling forum, I'll tie it in with the tandem - when we're riding together and she sometimes reaches up to touch my back. It always makes me smile.

Ska. And most reggae.
I like all kinds of music, and a lot of heavier stuff, but ska almost never fails to put me in a better mood. Like this, for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1GDZp0bPRcU

Recently purchased Wahoo Kickr and workouts are giving me a positive boost and better outlook. Also excited about improving my cycling and monitoring my progress.

Kittens and unicorns. Especially kittens riding on unicorns!
In all honesty, mountains and cool weather do it for me. Texbike Last edited by texbike; 10-09-2014 at 08:45 AM. |

I love going to the Black Hills and as of late have been doing it a couple of times per summer. Usually once with with wife pulling the camper (bringing a MTB and Cross bike) and once via motorcycle.
For whatever reason I'm always when I get to go |

I've recently been turned on to the classic car market. I'm not a huge car guy, but I've been learning more about it and would love to pick up an older Porsche or Benz... if I had a garage to put it in.
Was recently able to see some fine examples of nicely restored and original cars. Saw a 280SL "Pagoda", saw a 300SL roadster and a 300SL gull wing. Incredible cars, that seemed like the perfect blend of form and function. Other stuff that gets me going, pacific northwest indigenous art. Especially paddles. Paddles had huge significance, as both a symbolic item, but also as a means of locomotion and a weapon. Old photographs, old maps, spanish and classical guitar music, eating and wine.

That moment the plane wheels touch down in a foreign country. Especially one I have not visited before. The adventure!

Along those lines, the moment I finish shifting through all the gears and making sure the wheels are true after reassembling my coupled bike post-plane ride.
