Zanconato Road (Updated Page 4)

For my first custom, Mike was the clear-cut choice. Here are some pics poached from his Flickr:

Can't wait! Hoping to have it built up this weekend. More later...

Wow! I love the paint job, bothe in terms of the simplicity of the design and the actual color (as best as I can tell on my computer monitor, at least). Those silver bands on the headtube, are they part of the headset, or paint, or some kind of hardware accoutremont?

The paint is a pearly reddish orange Lamborghini color called Arancio Argos. Took me a while to settle on a paint color, but I think I picked the right one. As for the silver "bands", pretty sure they're just there for picture-taking purposes to correctly position the fork relative to the frame in the absence of the actual headset.

Thanks! Build will initially be everything from my previous CAAD10. That's what upgrading on a budget necessitates. I know SRAM isn't as sexy as Campy or Di2, but it'll look and function fine.

Chapeau Alex!

Beautiful! Forget the components...you can always "upgrade" those later, maybe, if and when, or never.

Point is, you got a killer frame. Between this and your other bike...how could it really get much better?

I have only seen ONE zanc out this way in the "wild". It was stephenCL's - he was gracious enough to let me roll it around the block. in <60 seconds the magic was obvious

that color is just perfect. be sure to post built pics.

Thanks for all the kind words so far! All the credit goes to the builder... and Jay Nutini of Circle A Cycles for the spectacular paint job.

So Mike hand delivered the F/F/HS on Wednesday (talk about exceptional customer service!), and I started the build tonight.

Build specs (parts carried over from the CAAD10 that this replaced):
  • 10-speed SRAM Red, pre-AeroLink brakes, Force cassette, KMC chain, Yokozuna cables
  • Chris King R45 hubs laced to HED C2 rims, Sapim CX-Ray spokes, courtesy Luxe Wheelworks
  • 700x25 Continental GP 4 Season tires; was initially planning on mounting my 700x28 Schwalbe Ultremo ZX's, but found a gash on the rear sidewall yesterday... f*ck...
  • Deda Zero100 bars, 3T ARX Pro stem, Fizik Cyrano seatpost
  • Shimano Dura-Ace 9000 pedals
  • Selle Italia SLR Superflow saddle
  • King SS cages, Lizard Skins DSP bar tape
I was hoping for a maiden voyage this weekend, but unfortunately, I'm an idiot and forgot I needed a front derailleur clamp. Doh! Ordered one online, ETA next Thursday... bummer...
