Lightbulb long winter ahead. help me build my library

So I was thinking yesterday it's been a long cold winter up here in the deep freeze already; whereupon I realized that yesterday was only the first day, ouch.

Going to need a few more books to survive. What do you recommend? I have very little so far. Actually only Flying Scotsman and The Hour (both very good). Thinking along the lines of histories, biographies, early road racing, track racing, cyclocross if anything can be found about that, and so on. I was going to get Intimate Portrait of the Tour de France but it's out of print and the cheapest used copies are around two tubular's worth so yeah.

I found good lists at Velominati and the Rouleur store, anything from those that you could recommend? or anything not on those lists?

Really considering a Rouleur subscription too.

Get Rouleur, well worth it.

I sell a fabulous picture book about Colnago with lots of history of the 2nd half of the last century - you can search for the book on ebay. The author is Augusto Stagi.

Rouleur is worth every penny.

Tomorrow, We Ride is also outstanding. A fine book by Jean Bobet.

Road to Valor about Gino Bartoli
I couldn't find the titles but a few years ago Velo Press had a series of novels about an American rider on a European pro team involved in various doping, murders, and other incidents. Not great literature but fun reading

Good request, I'll check back to see if I can pick up some new ideas.

I'm thinking that since you are a newer member, maybe you haven't seen this thread yet - lots of good titles, maybe it will help.

Slaying the Badger (Taming, Slaying, le Blaireau was equally resistant ). Very interesting book.

I enjoyed A Dog in a Hat, but I love The Rider--read it several times, plan to dip back in every now and again.

Two Wheels, Perfect Circles, Derailleur, Deadroll and Dead Air - written by Greg Moody.

French Revolutions, by Tim Moore. Very funny account of a fairly inexperienced rider riding the TdF route.
