What type of tubing was used for this one?

I had one of the True Temper Huffy's that failed on the downtube. The frame was great until then.

That's my understanding why Slawta ending up building some of these Huffy's. Due to failures of the True Temper tubes of the day. The bike is most definitely not that same tubeset.

Slawta built Hampsten's Giro-winning bike.

From what I remember, the bikes were snapping like twigs during the Spring Classics.

It previously had belonged to Raul Alcala. At the time (1988), I didn't know about the whole True Temper failure issue.

Tommy Matusch still rides his original team issue Huffy often around here. It was his main ride until some buddies at Trek gave him a carbon bike.

There was a post a few days ago about how Hampsten won on a Landshark because the "Huffy"s were failing.

Nice bike. Modern tubing makes it nicer.

I remember reading a story in one of the mags about this. I remember it saying the frame was cracked for a very long time while Tommy continued to ride it.
