you want to lay a skid down with one finger...no problem people think you have to run campy due to lack of a cable release but I have a set on a SRAM bike with no issue. ebay they go up close to $200 but $100-125 is more like the going rate. the issue isnt pirce - it's finding them. they sell fast. |

i agree, i've been half heartedly hunting for a pair for a while, and always beat to the punch. i've scored this pair and looking forward to hooking them up.
thank you for the weigh-in, your opinion means a lot for me.

My favorite brakes so far Nick. Light enough (about the same as DA 7800's) and modulate beautifully. I have a set I came into on my IF CJ. Love 'em almost as much as I love the frame.

Happy to help you spend your money! It seems so counter that an "old" non-descript design can still work so well today. there is nothing flashy here except brilliant performance. I have one set stashed away for that "future build" we all dream of. always thought I should buy a few more pairs...but that just seemed like hoarding.

Shimano ultegra brakes from 7600 on up are stronger and modulate better IMHO ( along with many others brakes ) and there is a problem with no quick release unless your running 23's or smaller. I've owned a few pair of SSC's and while fine brakes, pdmtong is correct it's a supply and demand issue. Like Dura Ace stems, Campy delta brakes and many other parts they have developed cult status and prices exceed real world use. Nothing wrong with them or the other mentioned parts for that special build, it's just that newer more modern parts have past them buy.

which SSC brakes are these?
the final dual-pivot version (pictured below), or the one from the late '80s (made by modolo), or the one from the late '90s (made by dia-compe), or the one from the early '80s (also made by modolo)?

most of the ga-ga is over the final version you pictured...it's the leaf spring that makes them feel good.
