The Economist names "The Secret Race" as one of its Books of the Year

I always try to look at the Economist's Books of the Year for good XMAS gifts (or for myself). I was quite surprised when I glanced through the Culture, society, sport and travel section & there was Tyler...

I think I'll be asking for "Days of God: The Revolution in Iran and its Consequences" instead.

I'm reading it right now and frankly...can't put it down. If you are a race fan you will probably be mesmerized (and saddened) by what was going on, for how long and who was involved in the peloton. It pretty much WAS the peloton.

I read it a couple months ago and could not put it down. It was really eye opening, saddening, but excited for the future of the sport (as this whole year has been).

Just read it too and agree that you can't put it down. I do take it with a bit of skepticism...after the Landis book...but have the guarded opinion that what Tyler wrote is the truth. The most interesting part was when he joined CSC and you see the larger perspective of what was going on in the peloton. The saddest part was the story about the chance meeting with Lance this past spring.

Just also read an article in the December Procycling about racing in the 50's and not much had changed since then.

If you have read or plan to read The Secret Race, you should read the full USADA Reasoned Decision on Lance Armstrong. The two compliment each other very well.

agree with others

just got it from the library, and i cant put it down... good reading and really opens your eyes. I have read a large part of the USADA documents and this does fit nicely with the evidence that was presented to the USADA...

definately worth a read if you are a fan of european racing from the past 15-20 years... it opens your eyes...
