98 degrees - convince me to ride

It's 98 degrees. Would someone please try to convince me to do the Thursday night group ride?

it will be cooler by the time it's ride time or at some point you'll be riding into a headwind. it's 97 degrees in SA but this is after 100+ earlier this week. this maybe the cool day. i'll be riding.

Become injured for awhile, where you can't ride period....all weather looks happily rideable afterward. I actually enjoy riding in the heat YMMV

For me it's not the temp but the air quality.

Just finished a moderate ride which started at 98 degrees and 102 when finished. I live in the south where we expect low to mid 90's with lots of humidity. Today's ride at the lower humidity really wasn't too bad at all. I guess it is just what you get used to riding in.

I'd like to say go for it, but not much I should say because I cancel if the road is wet.

hehe, difference between the coasts i guess. people who get a real winter impress me with their ability to ride regardless of wind, rain, snow. heat? 98 degrees??????? HA. that's a typical summer day here. hell, even autumn. i even recall a christmas day pushing 100 back in high school

I used to live in Albuquerque, NM...the worst part about riding wasn't the air temp, but the radiant heat from the pavement. After being out for a few hours, the whole bottom of my foot just felt like it was on fire.

Grab a couple of small ziplock bags and stuff them full of ice...thrown them in your jersey pocket...that oughta keep you cool. I used to tear a small hole in the corner and let them drip out...they'd drip onto my shorts and evaporate before they ever got a chance to drip down my leg. Made for some funky dried up salt patterns on the shorts afterwards.

Just go ride...you won't regret it afterwards!

Cheers. Riding is an activity, like many others...just choose another.
